A young lady makes an outrageous deal with a very handsome devil in this sexy debut romance set in Georgian Era London and Scotland.
An independent young woman of means, Miss Hannah Howard is as stubborn as she is beautiful. After she moves to London for her first season among the ton, she immediately finds herself in a heated dispute with her neighbor, the ill-mannered Gavan Dalreoch, Earl of Rhone. Giving the Earl a black eye is a lapse in judgment—even though the Scottish scoundrel deserved it. Now with her reputation in jeopardy, her only hope for saving face is the man whose face she bruised.
Gavan is content to live up to his rakish reputation, but with family pressuring him to marry, he and Hannah agree to get engaged just long enough to appear respectable. Yet as the charade continues with stolen kisses and a trip to Gavan's Scottish castle, Gavan and Hannah discover that their false engagement may be more real than they imagined.

A Convenient Engagement The Countess Scandals Book 1 edition by Kimberly Bell Romance eBooks
I read a lot of historical romance, and with very few exceptions, my issues are always the same. Either the story and characters are wonderful, but the heat level is just so-so...or the heat level is through the charts, but the story and characters are shallow and flat. In A CONVENIENT ENGAGEMENT, I found everything I could have ever wanted in a historical romance: a smart, driven heroine, a complex hero, an engaging plot, witty and intelligent dialogue...and SEX, oh, lord the sex in this book!!! But it's not just the heat level that kept me turning the pages, it's the incredible chemistry Bell creates between Gavan and Hannah, which ranges from laugh-out-loud hysterical to serious passion. In Bell's work, I see evidence of a new generation of historical romance writers who are reexamining history to develop smart female characters with intelligence and agency. We see Hannah co-mingling with some of the greatest thinkers of the 18th century as she develops her own identity outside of the shadow of her father, and her relationship to Gavan is riddled with questions and doubts that were as true then as they are now. If you are looking for a smart, hot, funny, and feminist historical romance, then look no further than this book. I loved it!Product details

A Convenient Engagement The Countess Scandals Book 1 edition by Kimberly Bell Romance eBooks Reviews
I generally read mysteries so this was a change to a wonderful romance story to pick up and read! I was impressed with the author's descriptive verbiage....a real delightful story. I look forward to more novels by Kimberly Bell! Thank you!!!
A Convenient Engagement by Kimberly Bell effortlessly infuses humor into the romance, along with grand sweeping gestures and small tender ones. Gavan and Hannah’s story is by turns explosive and intimate, and sweet and sexy. The secondary characters delight and amuse without taking over, and the descriptions of setting and wardrobe bring the world to life. The book is funny and full of heart. I was glad to see the second in the series centers on Ewan, Gavin’s cousin, and I’ve already pre-ordered it.
This historical romance was so much fun! I can't tell you the number of times I laughed out loud. The characters were very charming and the plot combined humor with a wonderful hot and steamy romance, I loved it so much that I didn't want it to end! Can't wait to read the next in this series.
What a delightful romance, it's sexy, it's romantic, it's fast moving. I loved the characters, not just the main characters but the secondary characters as well. What made it really special was it's humor, not easy to find in a historical romance. I'm now a fan!
This is my first time reading from this author!I really did love all the sexual tension between the main characters. And how the story played out! It has everything I want in a book humor, heart,Romance, and a little bit action-packed. I giggled a couple of times between the main characters and their moments together.
Gavin finally found his match. And I absolutely love the competition between these two andthey do make a sexy couple!
I'm not the sort of guy who reads romance books, but I owed a friend a few favors and she was enamored by this book, so I was guillted into it. I am not familiar with any tropes of the genre. I have no idea where the line is between "steamy" and "lurid". As such, I am completely qualified to say Hey, this is pretty good. I would definitely recommend it to people who are into - wait, "historical romance" is a genre? Yeah, definitely anyone who responds to that. People into just plain romance novels? Yep. Other girly novels? Not the girls who throw their ponytail over their letterman jacket while gossiping about how dreamy Jerry is. It's too good for them.
The lead characters are just lovely. They fight, they lie, they fool around, they play dress up, they more than fool around, they make each other better people, they knock out a lamp that chanced being close to the bed. I expected this sort of thing. What romance ends with them being embittered prudes? They both had actual personalities, and I genuinely laughed at them. The steamier bits convince me I'm doing it wrong because I don't get all that out of it.
They're great and all, but let me tell you where I found the most fun the side dishes. I suspect romancy books often get away with just the two protagonists, or maybe three if one is a werewolf. No, I was enamored by the others, especially the males (look, I connect better with my dangly gender). Ewan had an air of being a grumpy parent of a petulant child and then actively threatening to shoot said child. Everything I'd want in a parent. And Magnus! The straight man with a heart of coal. I'd put him in every 3 year-old's birthday just to see him efficiently and ruthlessly separate Kendra from Madeline's hair, right after Ewan is done threatening wee Davie. Can we make a buddy comedy with those two?
Pretty good book. When I get pressed to read the sequel I'll be foxing to get as many favors redeemed possible more than dreading the activity.
An adorably funny sexy read.
First off, the clothes were amazing. I could like SEE her dresses. I wanted this heroine's wardrobe to be mine.
I want to be this heroine. She is kick ass. More kick ass than definitely any historical I've read for sure. She's this modern chick with massive independence, stuck and living in the wrong century--I felt so bad for her! But her hero not only holds his own against her, he respects her. She doesn't lose herself over him or go all damsel. No. She keeps her standards, her goals, and gets her man. Yes!
But truth-- writing that's witty yet florid. A devilish hero with surprising sweetness and flaws that prick your heart. Great laughs and excitement lighting up every chapter. OH and it's super sexy too. Like really risque adventurous. I hope there's more of that in the next one, cuz there definitely needs to be more!
And I think I saw the book 2 on pre-order. So yeah, going for that.
